This week's Periodic Heroes post and another pic I'm going to make a print for at Cons this summer. I really like how this turned out (I posted the pencils here earlier). It's not Green Lantern, but it's good enough.

Almost to 100.

This is Molotov from the Venture Brothers cartoon on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. I know nothing about her other than the face that she looks cool.

From Periodic Heroes.

The Marvel Trinity. I CANNOT wait for the Thor and Captain America movie and MOST OF ALL - THE AVENGERS (coming in 2012)!!!! Going to be incredible.

This a Green Lantern piece I did for fun. I loved how it turned out so I'm using it on promotional materials I'm taking with me to cons. Pretty cool.

One of my more favorite church sketches.

I could draw Hulk all day everyday (except for the other day in class when I was asked to draw Hulk and MAJORLY choked. Ugh).

I'll skip ahead and post my 100th post!!!

Here is a cover and four pages from a Deadpool comic I just finished. Deadpool is this wacky sometimes Hero who is, well, crazy, but also indestructible. It was really fun drawing these pages cause I got to play up humor and other things I've not done before.

More church drawing.

Just working on drawing from models/photos and trying to adapt them to my style.

Here are some drawings I did for a research book in my Superheroes class. This first one was my fave (and I'm in the process of inking it and coloring it).
X-Men. This is where my imagination began and if I have anything to say about it, that's where it will end. I'd like to write/draw an X-Men comic on my death bed.

Wow. Almost to 100. Alright.

Here is the second strip. I like this one much better. Fits my (miniscule) skill set more.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Umm, let's see... oh, this was an assignment for one of my classes where we had to draw two strips (other one tomorrow) that were text/image interdependent. Basically, the joke/story/etc couldn't work without both elements together. Much harder than it sounds.

Here are the next four pages from my Superheroes class this semester. This class pushes me harder than ever - but it's working. I'm feeling that my skills are slowly coming up to level and I'm pleased with the progress. Miles to go and all that, but it's coming along.

The script I worked from was from a Superman/Aliens II comic in the 90s. It was pretty fun and open. Just Superman and Orion flying around and killing Aliens. Much more fun than Spiderman stopping Canadians from doing drugs.

Another Periodic Heroes post. These are characters from the comic Runaways. Fun stuff. Dinosaurs are the coolest thing ever (true story).

Went Grant Morrison Meta-style at the end. I like it.

First time I've ever lettered something too.

Had do write and draw a 2-page Self-Deconstructive comic for my Theories and Practices class. Kinda vague, right? Shyeah, tell me about it. Basically, it was write and draw a story that breaks down why you draw comics. I went with a Superhero comic (of course) that I like for the same reasons I don't like it. Anyways, here is page 1 (page 2 tomorrow):

Another PH post. Both the B&W and Colored version.

Human Torch.

Spawn, from my other blog (one of the many) Periodic Heroes. Link is at the side of the page. Check it out.

Page 15 (and the final page)
Aaaaaaand there you have it!

Now, once I get them colored, I'll probably post them in batches of five, so it work take two weeks for me to put them up (one at a time). I have a fun time drawing them. By the end, I think things were working better.

The pages I'm doing right now are already looking better than these, so I better get them done quick - ha! That's what intense schooling will do for you (and it better, I'm paying enough for this).

Page 12
Page took forever. But it was around here that I started to feel a bit more comfortable with the brush.

Page 11
Another page that I owe Photoshop some credit. I drew all the figures on the page, but drew the background on another page just once. In photoshop I just pasted the BG behind the figures five times. Great time saver and it works pretty decent here. Decent enough.
