Okay, so, I love the holiday Halloween. It's my favorite holiday of the year (take that Christmas!). I, traditionally, have to watch at least 100 horror/scary/goofy movies in the month of October. My favorite Halloween movie of all-time is, in fact, Halloween.
Compared to horror films now, it's relatively tame. In fact, the first time I watched it I was like "that was it?" But it's amazing at building suspense. There's something about it that I just love. It was the grandfather of slasher films (of which I also love). It's really pure in that genre. No extra stupid things. Just a dude who stalks and kills people for no reason with no remorse. Now that's scary.
Phillip went down to Georgia, he was looking for a job to steal. He wasn't feeling swell, corporate work was hell, and he was willing to make a deal. When he came upon a school who was dealing comics and making it hot. Then Phillip jumped on the nearest plane and said "SCAD, let me tell you what - now people are gonna laugh at the things I'm about to do - but I bet a pencil of gold against your soul that I can make it as an artist too."

The B&W version of my Lord of the Rings Periodic Heroes post this week. Again, using Alphonse Mucha as an inspiration (this is two of four pieces I'll be doing like this).

Okay, let me clarify that I did NOT draw this. So, in case you were wondering how I got awesome overnight, it's because I didn't. This was drawn by the amazing Randy Green. I got a really cool pocket brush pen for my birthday and I wanted to ink something with it. It's been months and months since I've really inked anything, so it was fun to pull it out and practice.
Original Pencils:
Granted, his pencils are better than my inks. My bad - ha! Part of my problem is that I shrunk the picture down to ink it - so the little details became really teeny tiny. Also, I need to work on my feathering (which he rocks). So, yeah, it was fun practice (of which I will keep doing). That and it's a little cathartic too.

Sorry for the lack of posts, lately, but I've been working on the following pages for the majority of a week and a half now. They're from an X-Men script that Marvel sent me, and I sent them off to the editor today, so fingers crossed cause I busted my hump on these things. Hardest I've worked on pages, yet. I should be getting back to more regular posting of stuff now (as I take a breather before starting on my next set of pages).
