So, I've been working on a new technique and decided to try it to sequential pages. I'm also crazy enough to send these to editors (crazy cause I'm trying something I've never done before and sending it to people I've been building a rapport with over the last year who are used to seeing a different style - they'll either hate it or like it - maybe the change up will be what I was missing to push me over the edge - who knows?).
What do you think?
Phillip went down to Georgia, he was looking for a job to steal. He wasn't feeling swell, corporate work was hell, and he was willing to make a deal. When he came upon a school who was dealing comics and making it hot. Then Phillip jumped on the nearest plane and said "SCAD, let me tell you what - now people are gonna laugh at the things I'm about to do - but I bet a pencil of gold against your soul that I can make it as an artist too."

The B&W (which I think I like better than the final colors) for my contribution to The Line is Drawn this week. It's a post-apocalyptic Batman and Robin.

Got some pages from various side projects/tryouts I did over the break. Figured I'd post them here cause why not.
This is a tryout set of pages I did for Committed Comics for a new book they're launching. I haven't heard back whether I got the gig or not, but they were fun pages. Trying some new rendering techniques. I also borrowed some Mignola-isms when playing with my black and whites. The story had a cool Hellboy, supernatural feel, so why not.

BW for my piece that will be up on The Line is Drawn next week. Batman vs Nemesis.
I hate the linework by the time I finished it (this is uggo), but the color really helped it.

This week on Periodic Heroes we did "The Authority." The lovely and talented Lee Harris did a great black and white pic of Jenny Sparks, and I took a few minutes to color it. Lee has a great natural flow to his figures and line work that is the opposite of my hard, angular style. I've been talking to him about coloring a piece or two of his for a while. I found some time to color this up (having to soften up my style of coloring to fit his work). I like it.

The Authority. I'm not a big fan of inking right now, but I actually tried really hard on this piece. I've been working with some new rendering techniques and wanted to see them in ink. All in all, I like it more than I hate it, so I guess that's a bonus!
