Britt doesn't like her "manly" look, but this chick is ripped - I'm working to figure out a strong, powerful feminine thing. |
Phillip went down to Georgia, he was looking for a job to steal. He wasn't feeling swell, corporate work was hell, and he was willing to make a deal. When he came upon a school who was dealing comics and making it hot. Then Phillip jumped on the nearest plane and said "SCAD, let me tell you what - now people are gonna laugh at the things I'm about to do - but I bet a pencil of gold against your soul that I can make it as an artist too."

Quick Wonder Woman drawing. It was extremely hard to do for some reason. In the end, I'm "meh" about it, but glad I was able to get it out at all.

Okay, here is the banner for a new blog I'm starting up at the beginning of next year.
The blog is called (can you guess) "Periodic Heroes" and features a group of great artists I know (and me). Weekly we'll choose a character or comic to draw and we'll each draw our own interpretation. I'm REALLY excited about this cause we've got an amazing group of people who are excited to contribute.
I'll put up a link to the blog once we get it up and running, but y'all will have to check it out come January.

Aaaaaand more zombies still. I finally ended up doing an entire family (one piece at a time, it seems), so I threw all of the pieces together and made a Christmas Card for them.
On a related note, I'm getting better at portrait sketching - ha!

Sketched a quick Thor in church today. Love church drawing. Anyways, the trailer was just released and it looks quite cool. I'm excited to see the movie next spring.

And here's a fun, slightly more experimental piece featuring X-Men vixens (after seeing this you wonder why I became a comic addict at nine years old - ha!). Some things worked, some didn't, but I liked the marker tones on the skin.

Decided to do a few pieces and throw them up on eBay to see what happens. Here's a Spider-Man pic that I think turned out more positive than negative.

And since it's Christmas, let's continue in the spirit of Zombie Giving.
My best friend Sarah always does awesome, funny, and creative Christmas cards every year. This year, however, she announced that she wasn't going to be able to do one. She didn't have the time. So, I volunteered my services and offered to draw them a zombie card. She, being amazing and having the twisted sense of humor that I do, said that was an awesome idea.
So, instead of a quick sketch, I went all out with al 11x17 zombie Christmas masterpiece. We, of course, created a "Safe for Old People" version with no blood or zombies, but this one is the real version.

So, on Sunday, I offered my friends on facebook the chance for me to draw them as a zombie if they'd make it their profile pics. A TON got in on this (so much so that I have a backlog of zombies to draw this week). Instead of posting one at a time, let me post four a day.

And Page 4
Not going to lie, these were extremely challenging pages for a number of reasons, but I'm glad I did them (and really, they didn't take me much longer than any other pages I've done). All in all, I like more of them than I hate them.
Here are the actual pages (which I didn't look at until I had finished and scanned these pages so they couldn't influence me at all):
Now, these have the advantage of coloring and lettering (couldn't find just plain B&W versions, unfortunately).
What do you think? What did I do that works well, what did Bill (the artist) do better?
