Okay, again, out of sequence, but I've got something I want you to see. This is an anthology submission I'm turning into today. It's only 5 pages but also acts as a springboard for a larger story I'm working on. I've been working on this story for about a year and a half - and most of it was to figure out what story to tell.

It's set in Wise, Virginia, where I spent 6 months on my mission and fell in love with the little coal town. It's a great place, but has a lot of people who are suffering. It took me a long time to find the right angle and story to tell, but I think I've got it. It's a love letter but a stark story.

Anyways, check it out and let me know what you think.

It should be noted that I wrote, penciled, toned, and lettered the comic, but the amazing David Stoll inked it (and I could NOT have finished it in time without his great inks).

Because these aren't the finished pages, you'll notice that there are a few blank panels here and there. They'll be added while I'm coloring as they're just copies from another page. It works with the story and saves me time having to redraw things ;)

I've come to learn I'm quite sadistic as an artist. I constantly draw things like crowd scenes and what not - and that's such a pain. I think there are like 35+ people I drew on this whole page. Ugh. But, if it doesn't kill me...

So, I'm breaking order here to show you my new pages (there are a ton of pictures scheduled to upload before and after this, numerically). These are the first four pages of a Spiderman story that we're drawing in class this semester.

I like the way they turned out, so I'm posting them right now.

Okay, sorry about the lack of posts. I've been working on a lot of pages, but I'm working in chunks and haven't gotten any of them completely done. I do, however, have the basic B&W pages for my Heartless Dark Epilogue together.

HD was my webcomic that ran for a year and a half and completed in June. Over Christmas Break, I decided to write and draw and epilogue. It's 15 pages and will be presented in 3 parts. I still need to color and letter the pages (hoping to get to that in February), but I'll post the B&W pages here to show you what I've been doing.

Both pencilling and inking a page is different for me. Last semester I worked really hard on producing tight, nice pencils. Now, my pencilling skills are much better than my inking. When I ink (mostly with a brush), I ink much looser. As the pages went on, I got looser. The last few pages, I felt that they really came together in a cool(ish) style. Well, I'll post the finals here (after Heartlessdark.com) when I get them done.

Here is the first page.

Here's another White Queen I did to throw up on ebay. I really like the white space against the skin color. Makes a cool look.

On another note, I'm back in school now, so, hopefully, I'll have more cool work from there to post (I should - this is going to be a busy semester).

Sorry for the long break - I was really consistent there for a while. I've been working on a 15 page epilogue to Heartless Dark and I haven't wanted to post any of the pages until it's close to done. Well, I've got 12 finished. Once I finish up the other three, I'll start leaking the B&W versions here while I color and letter the pages for print.

In the meantime, here is the pic I did for the first week of Peroidic Heroes. I'll post my weekly drawings here, as well, just not as consistent as I do on the PH blog.

Periodic Heroes

Okay, quick break from blogging to pimp my new project!

Head over to Periodic Heroes to check out the new love of my life - ha!

Periodic Heroes is a collection of artists (ranging in style and experience) who've gotten together and decided to do a weekly sketch-blog. Each week an artist picks a Character or comic for everyone to draw their own interpretation of.

So, every Monday, you should be able to see a handful of great artists showing off their talent in a place you won't find anywhere else.

So, check it out - tell your friends - shout it from the rooftops - paste it into your facebook/twitter/<insert other social networking site here> and spread the word! We've got some *great* art up and coming.

Come back every Monday!
