Okay, so here's a piece I just did for a guy I met at comic con. Great guy, promised him a drawing. He likes noir comics - like Scalped or Criminal. So, I got a tad carried away and did this cover-style illustration in the vein of Sean Phillips and pulp novel covers.
Then I tried a few filters for different effects:

Which do you like best?

I may (at some point) add some cover text, maybe some color, and some texture to make it look like a real novel cover.

  1. I'd say stick with the initial one - the "filtered" ones don't keep the noir feel and come across as being altered in some way with the art. The first one feels very natural, and it works best (in my opinion)

  2. I like the initial one best as well.

  3. The original is pretty cool, but I also like number four of the five. It has a real old, worn out picture quality to them.

  4. Thanks guys, I think I'll try and get back to this one in the next few weeks. Good to know my original is better than Photoshop's.
